We are all robots now.
There was a time when engineers(even students) found genuine joy and satisfaction in building software and implementing solutions. I remember the sense of superpower I felt when I implemented my first binary search algorithm, deployed my first app on Vercel, and later, when I began working in a corporation, building solutions that clients use every day.
A few weeks ago, I built a full-stack application within some few hours at a hackathon. But I didn’t feel fulfilled nor satisfied, because the codebase is mostly filled with AI code. I didn’t feel the joy of originality and innovation.
Someone might ask, “Before AI, we copied codes from Stack Overflow and other blogs. How is that different from what AI does?”
I’d say: I strongly agree to some extent. Copying from Stack Overflow makes us humans, then. In the same way, using AI tools will make us humans in the coming days.
The feeling is temporary and fading. We are all robots now…
